Sources and standards

GovernSmyrna helps residents read the public record. A vote, a payment, a business connection and a later outcome are separate facts. We connect them only where the available sources support the relationship.

What is covered

Records through September 4, 2026: 118 meeting records, including canceled meetings, and 498 decisions and procedures. The source inventory covers 2025–2026 Smyrna mayor and council records.

How to verify a citation

  1. Open the source link beside the claim, vote or passage. Check the meeting date, item identifier and cited page or recording time.
  2. Read the surrounding passage. A shared consent-agenda vote applies to the named motion; do not infer a separate individual roll call.
  3. Compare the original publisher’s document with the captured excerpt. Recording segment boundaries can be approximate.
  4. Check the document date and type. An agenda describes proposed business; minutes and action summaries describe the recorded proceedings.
  5. Check the records-through date for coverage. Saved views identify a captured record; browse the current item for newer findings.

Review and corrections

Proposals, votes, spending and completed work are kept distinct. Source links let readers check dates, amounts and the exact wording. Coverage notes identify missing documents, conflicting figures and uncertain attribution. Corrections update the public record. Captured sources and their history are retained so that citations can be checked; saved views retain what was captured when saved.
