Do I have a second? Everybody, please vote. I didn't even have to prompt her. She knew exactly what to do there. Miss Hines, how do you vote? I vote in the affirmative. Thank you. Approve 70. Uh, next we move to our citizen participation. Before we do that, uh, our mayor of the day, Edy Douglas, has been uh, very patient with us and done a fantastic job. I'm going to send it's getting past her bedtime and I'm going to send her uh with her parents now. And uh I'd love a round of applause for our mayor of the day. Come on. Thank you guys. Thank you. Guess I might should have done that before the consent agenda. Um, we're at our public input u citizen participation part of our meeting and we have three three citizens signed up for uh comment. Brian Sterling, 1206 Church Street. Thank you everyone, Mr. Mayor. I didn't get to say thank you to Mrs. Mayor for the day, but um I just wanted to come up and uh speak in support of uh item R in the Church Street drainage project. Um that's been a a long a project that's taken a long time to come to fruition. Uh we appreciate uh how much the city was willing to work with us. Um we went through uh mediation and even though it was a long mediation, it was very pleasant process. Um and uh we just we're really thankful that it's um kind of finally coming to fruition and that there's finally a resolution to it. Um it is uh it's something where there's a lot of of storm drainage on the south side of Church Street where there's no uh drains at all right now. And it doesn't just help our property, it helps everybody that's downstream of that property. So um great for the citizens of of Church Street.

good for us and we think it's good for the city as well. So, my wife Hannah and I just wanted to say thank you very much um for everybody's time and effort over what has been uh probably years of talking with a lot of city officials um and making it happen. So, we appreciate it. Thank you. Love to have a good resolution. Appreciate y'all being here. Thank you. Next, we have Skyler Akens, 1302 Countryside Place. Hello, Mr. Mayor. Thank you all for listening to me. Um, I come to you today for a few reasons. As you guys know, I am the one that sent you all letter um back in January under the threat of federal litigation because we were denied the right to participate in Smyrna's Pride. Um, we were told at the time that it was simply due because it was a nonprofit putting it on. We sense settled that with them. I want the pride to be successful. I think that some implications have been made here that somehow I don't want this pride to be successful. I was actually a me founding member of this pride, a founding contributor to this pride event. So I want it to be successful. I want the out there. I don't know why there's this implication out there that the log cabin Republicans are somehow trying to destroy this ma pride. we are a vendor, but we had to literally go and threaten federal litigation to just have a seat at the table. Um, I just want to focus my comments really sharply on a couple of things. Um, there have been when we the last settlement that we had, the last letter that was sent, Mr. Mayor, we actually had to have them delete their Instagram post um, shooting back at us. um me shooting in the sense of they made a PR statement back to us.

In the comments that I have archived, there were death threats in those comments. It was extremely uncalled for. Uh it was just it was completely out of control. As a part of the letter, they were asked to take it down. They did. I commend them for that. There's no bad blood left between us. But what I'm coming to ask is, is there a plan, and I'm asking you as well, Mr. administrator and the police to make sure that we're safe and that we're protected at this festival because with all due respect with the public vitriol that's been out there as a result of this, this made national news for all the wrong reasons. How do I assure folks that we're safe? I look at the map. I'm very thankful they put us near the Smyrna Police Department. That's a great thing. It's a great move. But will we be protected when um if something goes wrong? Um, one of the folks that is um that you all have an email here is asking for a group to come out called Angels for Angel Action and the Pansy Patrol. What this group does is they surround booths at festivals so that people cannot see them or hear them and they agitate the public and the people in the booth so that they cannot speak and so that they're prompted to quote act out. we are asking them and you guys as well to publicly disinvite that type of behavior uh because we're really worried about the safety implications of that. And um you know I will say that that's really all I'm here is to ask someone here to ask some hard questions about what you're going to do to keep us and our group safe during this event because there's a lot of people wondering um here if this is going to be a safe event for everyone.

I thank you for being here and and sharing your concerns. I did get your email. Um I've had discussions with Chief Sagants. Chief Sagans is is aware of this of of all that you've put forward and he has assured me that uh they will do. They're not going to talk about what numbers they're going to have and where they're going to have them, but he he and his uh uh department are this like any other event are are making sure that everybody's safe and they have the information that you've sent them so they will do with it what they do as law enforcement professionals. I have every confidence in our police department to uh to do what they need to do to keep everybody safe in this and in all all circumstances. So, appreciate you bringing everything to our attention. Thank you. Yeah, I just worried with the alcohol. That's all. That's another reason. A little concern. Thank you. And lastly, we have I'll mess up the last name. Colin Shyel. Oh, you got Did I get it right? That never happens. Uh yes. Uh I'm actually a resident of Atlanta, but the reason I'm here and I appreciate your time, especially you, Mr. Mayor. Uh I'm actually the president of Georgia Law Cabinet Republicans. So I appreciate everybody's time here. So I wanted to just kind of give you guys a little bit of what we've experienced because again to echo my political director's concerns, uh this next weekend has me genuinely terrified and I'm not one to scare easily. We have been dragged through the mud and from national news, from local AJ articles. You can Google Georgia log Georgia law cabin Republicans and we come up in an AGC article where we're just lambasted for existing. We have gone through heck and back just trying to get a seat at the table.

What this search can tell you

Coverage is incomplete. This collection tracks 118 meetings. 39 have searchable transcripts and 72 have searchable minutes; a meeting may have both. 10 currently have neither. A missing passage is not evidence that a topic was never discussed.

Speech and summaries stay distinct. Transcript passages preserve the available transcript text. Minutes are labeled as summaries, not spoken quotations. Speaker identities are shown only where the source or documented attribution supports them; an unattributed speaker remains unattributed.

Relevance does not establish a connection. Topic search uses meaning and words to help you locate passages. Read adjacent passages, follow the source and inspect any agenda context before drawing a conclusion about an official’s position or a decision.
