Not something that happens very often, fortunately, but it happens here, right? So, we got to be able to answer your questions. So, all right. So, with that, we'll just we'll close public comment and then um maybe Ricky, if you want any anything you want to say. Um Yeah. Yeah. Not um not to impede on the ongoing investigation. I'm just want to say and I think I speak for all the council mayor and council. We're so happy no one was hurt because your safety and the safety of all our citizens is mo is utmost importance to us and that does include uh this murderer police department and 911. So this is obviously this is all new to us right now. We'll work through it and we'll get better and we'll learn from it. Thank you all for being brave and coming today and speaking with us. continue to do so. This helps us to be better for you all too. Thank you. A shooting out, you know, if we could just um maybe we can have these conversations after. Let's go through the reports, right? And then also kind of can go sideways. So um Mr. Wilkinson, thank you. Um, I I just want to say thank you all for coming this evening and um and telling us your concerns. It really does help like Councilman um um uh Oglesby just mentioned. It really helps us to understand, you know, what what happened and what or what you're telling us and what y'all went through. And I I mean, I can't imagine, you know, being in your shoes and and experiencing that. That's really it is terrifying. and I'm just, you know, very concerned about about it. So, thank you'all for taking the time to come out tonight and tell us your story. Mr. L. Thank you, Mr. Gould. Uh, and I echo my colleagues.

Thank you first for being here tonight. Thank God no one was hurt. Uh the irony is that it's we recognized mental health awareness month and recognize I think everybody up here understands the terror that unfolded Saturday night. So as uh Council Member Oglesby uh poignantly said, we're going to uh work with PD uh the 911 folks get to the bottom of that and appreciate your input tonight. Um, uh, thank you all for being here. Um, and I have a report for just what what we have going on, but I'm happy and and I'm going to say this out loud, but I'm happy if you my email address is on the the city website. If I can direct you to the department for where you need to go, I'm happy to try to do that. Um because I know it's hard sometimes when people want to know what's happening with a case, right? I I know that. So my email address is lphinessga.gov. That's on there. Um I can't guarantee you that the department is going to be able to tell you what's happening with the investigation, but I can at least get you to where you need to go to try to get information, at least if a case gets started in the court process. Okay? So that way you don't have to answer multiple No, I get that. But I mean appreciate that very much. But hopefully our go No, no, no. And I and I get that as well. But Major Defense will be a good will be a good source. All of our email addresses are up there. We also have uh Miss Hines has got a unique skill set, you know, from her professional career. So, if if it's possible to be able to give you some added information or be able to kind of direct you, I'm happy to try.

Um, we had a pop-up legal clinic that was held at um, Smyrna First United Methodist where we had 34 um, lawyers who volunteered their time to be able to give um, free legal advice for um, some civil issues and things. And it was our second time doing it. Very happy to be able to provide that resource. uh council member uh Lindley and I helped uh sponsor having that event here again in the city. So very very happy about that. And then the garden tour, rain or shine, it went on um for the garden. Yeah, rain for the garden. So um very proud of those things here in the city and to have been a part of them. So with that I yield, Mr. Pickkins. Thanks, Mayor Pro Tim. Uh just thank you all again for being here tonight and I'll uh reach out to your uh HOA presidents in the next few days and we'll get something on the calendar so we can all get together. So thank you. Any anything along with the garden tour? We also started the Smyrna market this weekend seasonal market that is uh handmade market and we encourage everybody to come out and participate in that on Sundays from 10 to 2. Um, as has been said, the there's always something going on of all the great programming that is provided here in the city. Mr. Cochran, so we one of the enjoyable parts of this job is we get to talk about a lot of community events and and things and it really all sounds pretty trit and insignificant compared to what you all are dealing with. So again, as I said earlier on, our our number one uh assignment mission is to ensure the public safety of our residents. So we I think each of us are maybe fuming in our own way and disappointed that you all experienced what you did and the lack of response, right?

So uh rest assured the mayor, if the mayor was here, he would be saying the same thing and uh so we will dig into it and we'll address it and you all hear hear an update from us. Uh when uh Mr. Please has another comment because the situation seems so so much more important today. I forgot my actual comment I had prepared. So y'all please give me a couple of seconds here. And you're going to hear this more than once. The city of Sperner will be hosting a Junth festival for the first time on June 19th starting at 5:00 p.m. right outside here on the beautiful green space. This event is for all of the city of Smyrner and Cobb County and it's absolutely free. We're going to have a good time. We're going to celebrate Smyrnner, celebrate Junth and what and all that that is. If you want to be a sponsor or a vendor at this particular celebration, please reach out to Jodie Mills. That's Jodie spelled J O Di Mills. Uh she is a recreation parks and rec service manager and her phone number is 678-6315540 or you can email her at jills smrnaga.gov. Once again that's jod mills. Her information is on the city of Smyrna website also. But this event please spread the word. We're going to have a good time. We're going to celebrate. It's going to be hot. So, we're going to start in the evening. We're going to end it with a wonderful concert which is part of our blanket series with Rita Rita Ground, right? Who used to sing with Ray Charles. She did a lot of other jingles for a lot of the popular shows that you probably watched in the 70s. Okay, I'm dating myself now. The 70s and 80s. But it's going to be a good time. All right, we're going to eat, dance, and uh enjoy one another's company. Okay, I yel back. May poor Tim. Thank you sir. Appreciate it. Uh it's 8:05 uh during

Richard Garland reminded council that these are the same road closures that have occurred the last 3-4 years. There are sone Sundays that King Street is closed to accommodate more vendors, but it does not occur every Sunday during the Smyrna Market. 6. Other Business / Staff Comment Councilmember Oglesby – The official flyer for the Juneteenth celebration will be out tomorrow as well as the sponsorship layout. Also, the fire hydrants will be painted Mother’s Day weekend. Councilmember Pickens – The Jonquil Jog was a great success. He also spoke about the shooting in his ward Sunday. He was not notified about it until late last night. He was first informed by the HOA rather than the city. He asked that if something like this occurs in their wards to please notify that council member and Mayor at least. Councilmember Lindley – He and Councilmember Hines assisted with the Legal Pop-up Clinic this past weekend. They talked about holding a Mental Health Resource fair next year. He mentioned the presentation from the Committee of the Whole updating the council about the projects around the city. He asked that that presentation be placed on the city website because it highlights important successes around the city. He expressed frustration that, though ti was placed on the website, it is not found easily. He also mentioned that a “Coming Soon” button was to be placed on the homepage of the website, and that, too, is not easy to find. He does not like that constituents are having to “hunt” for these items, especially those items that are showing city successes. Councilmember Hines – Echoing Councilmember Lindley’s frustration, she wondered why when members of the elected body make a request, it does not get done – signage, website alterations. She also mentioned the Garden Tour from this past weekend. Discussion took place about council member parking spaces and people parking in them. It was mentioned maybe license plates need to be run to determine who is parking is those spots. 7. Executive Session (As Needed)

What this search can tell you

Coverage is incomplete. This collection tracks 118 meetings. 39 have searchable transcripts and 72 have searchable minutes; a meeting may have both. 10 currently have neither. A missing passage is not evidence that a topic was never discussed.

Speech and summaries stay distinct. Transcript passages preserve the available transcript text. Minutes are labeled as summaries, not spoken quotations. Speaker identities are shown only where the source or documented attribution supports them; an unattributed speaker remains unattributed.

Relevance does not establish a connection. Topic search uses meaning and words to help you locate passages. Read adjacent passages, follow the source and inspect any agenda context before drawing a conclusion about an official’s position or a decision.
