Proclamation in recognition of Georgia Arbor Day 2025

ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:
The 2025 Arbor Day Proclamation acknowledges the benefits of trees and urban forests.  The City of 
Smyrna has been observing Arbor Day for 22 years, and, for 22 years has received the Tree City 
designation.  Environmental Services in conjunction with Keep Smyrna Beautiful Board, City of Smyrna 
Tree Board, and Parks and Recreation will commemorate this day with a tree planting on Arbor Day, 
February 21, 2025.
 
RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION:
Environmental Services and Keep Smyrna Beautiful Board request the proclamation be read & 
presented at the 2/17/25 City Council meeting. 
Julie Barwig, Director Environmental Services, will attend and accept the Proclamation.
