Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Cobb County School District for the Lease and Use 
of Facilities at Campbell Middle School and authorize the mayor to sign all related documents.

ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:
The City of Smyrna and the Cobb County School District have reached an agreement allowing the city 
to lease and use a portion of the property at Campbell Middle School for recreational purposes. This 
property is approximately 15.26 acres at the rear of the school property, and includes the 5-acre 
baseball field tract, 5-acre football field tract, 0.66-acre tennis courts tract, a greenspace tract, and 
shared parking in all of the parking areas on the school property. The city needs recreational park 
space and this property is currently underutilized. This agreement allows the city to develop and use 
the property for recreational programming at times when the school is not in session. This facility 
greatly enhances the recreational offerings of the city.
This amendment is for 50 years unless earlier terminated.
RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION:
Staff recommends the approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Cobb County School 
District for the Lease and Use of Facilities at Campbell Middle School and authorize the mayor to 
sign all related documents.
