FIRE ADMINISTRATION 
Function 
The Fire Chief, appointed by and accountable to the Mayor and City Council, serves as the highest-ranking 
officer within the organization. The Fire Chief is responsible for aligning department functions with the  
city’s vision by developing a strategy to accomplish the  objective. The F ire Chief is responsible for 
developing an annual budget, implementing the strategic plan and ensuring c ompliance with applicable 
laws and standards. The Deputy Chief of Administrative Services and Deputy Chief of Emergency Services 
serve under the direction of the Fire Chief and share responsibility for managing the day -to-day 
administrative functions of the department as well as interacting with other internal and external 
stakeholders. The Deputy Fire Chiefs also act on behalf of the Fire Chief in his/her absence. 
Major Goals & Objectives (FY 2025) 
1. Reclassification of the Administrative Coordinator position to Certification Manager 
2. Evaluate and execute the four strategic initiatives established by the department: 
• Accreditation 
• Community Risk Reduction 
• Professional Development 
• Lasting Partnerships 
3. Update strategic plan 
4. Improve the awareness of established community outreach programs 
5. Effectively execute and manage the adopted budget for all divisions in FY 2025

• Accreditation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence 
• ISO 
• NFPA Guidelines
